The Life Changing Magic of Tidying by Marie Kondo 📚 a book review

October 17, 2016

I don’t think I know anyone who doesn’t want or who doesn’t appreciate a tidy house. What is not to love? Everything in its place, tidiness, calmness.

I have always been a firm believer that a tidy home leads to a clear and uncluttered mind. Where we live is infact a true reflection of our inner thoughts.

So when I came across this book I just had to find out more!

The Book –

Japan’s expert declutterer and professional cleaner Marie Kondo provides a step-by-step life-changing method for transforming space by tidying the home in the correct order, all in one go, and quickly. Left after this with only the simple choice of keeping or binning, more energy and motivation can be achieved in life overall. As well as solving a practical problem faced by many Brits, cultural interest in the Japanese way of life is guaranteed.

MARIE KONDO started reading housewives’ magazines from the age of five and loved the order and beauty of the well-organised spaces she saw in them. Then, from the age of 15 she started studying tidying seriously. She started with her own bedroom and then moved onto her siblings’. Today she runs a highly successful business in Tokyo helping clients transform their cluttered homes into spaces of beauty, peace and inspiration.

Verdict-

Everyone has their own way of tidying. I am lucky enough to have a fantastic cleaner who tidies and declutters for me on a weekly basis. But I have always loved tidiness.

This book is a fantastic way to start the process to getting organised. It has some great tips on organising and sorting things in your home although some may say a lot of it is common sense. Well it is to me but may not be to others.

This lovely encouraging read is available now on Amazon and at major bookshops.
