Homemade Rice Pudding sprinkled with Cinnamon πŸ’š

For me there is nothing more satisfying than a milky dessert. After a heavy meal, when you fancy a little something sweet, a little milky treat hits the spot perfectly.

In Turkey rice pudding, also know as ‘sutlac’ is a very popular dessert. Eaten cold with a sprinkle of cinnamon, not only is it a dessert, but a treat the whole family will love at anytime of the day.


This recipe is so simple and very nutritious for your little ones; rice, calcium filled milk and not too much sugar.

Ingredients– (makes enough for 6 bowls)

– 1 litre of full fat milk

– 1/2 cup long grained rice

– 1/2 cup sugar

– 1 tablespoon corn flour

Method

– Firstly wash the rice and drain it.

– Add the rice and the milk into a heavy bottomed non stick pot.

– Carefully cook the milky rice over a low to medium heat, ensuring to mix continually so that the milk does not burn.

– Once the rice has softened, add the sugar and stir until dissolved.

– In a small bowl mix the cornflour with a couple of tablespoons of water until it forms a smooth paste. Add to the pudding in the pot and stir over a low heat until the pudding starts to boil.

– The pudding is ready once it is thick and  gooeyly gorgeous.

– Carefully ladle the pudding to glass bowls, and let it cool in room temperature.

– Keep refridgerated. Serve cold with a sprinkle of cinnamon.
