Kitty’s Countryside Dream by Christie Barlow πŸ“š a book review πŸŒ³πŸ“πŸ’š

December 28, 2015

I have always seen myself as a city girl. I absolutely love the buzz of the city; the cars, the noises, the bright lights. I love the husstle and busstle of big cities like London, NYC, Hong Kong. Cities I have been lucky enough to live in.

But since having kids my outlook on where I am happiest has changed dramatically.

Although I still love the city, I prefer it as a place to visit from time to time. But I much prefer to bring up my little ones in the fresh air, surrounded by green trees and fields, where everything is more laid back.

We don’t live in the remote countryside but in the suburbs, so it’s a happy medium for us all. We don’t live in the city, but it’s not too far should we want to visit.

Today I’m really excited to be reviewing the latest book by one of my favourite authors who is also the nicest person ever! Christie Barlow writes so well you never want the book to end. Her first two books had me laughing out loud, the antics of the school playground so close to that of real life!

I was lucky enough to get a review copy of Christie’s latest book ‘Kitty’s Countryside Dream.’ I knew straight away it would be my type of read! Just look at that gorgeous cover!

The Story

When Kitty inherits Bluebell Lodge from her grandmother, a farm in the beautiful Staffordshire countryside, it’s time for fresh air and a fresh start. Up to her elbows in chickens and ponies, Kitty soon realises there’s an awful lot to learn about farming. Still, at least the locals seem friendly, not least her handsome neighbour Tom…

But just as Kitty is beginning to find her feet, and the possibility of love, the discovery of a long-hidden diary, by a mysterious character called Violet changes everything. Who is Violet and what is her message for Kitty? As Kitty fills in the lost pieces of her family jigsaw and discovers some shocking revelations, will her countryside dream and blossoming relationship fall to pieces?

When it comes to life in the country, nothing is ever quite as it seems …

Verdict

I absolutely loved this story! Kitty has only recently lost her mother, then finds out about the death of her grandmother. Inheriting a lodge and a farm she decides it’s time for a change so sets off to her new life. Working on a farm is no easy task as Kitty soon discovers.

I’ve always dreamt of having my own farm but after reading about it all through Kitty’s ordeal, I’m having second thoughts!

I loved meeting all the locals and especially enjoyed it when Kitty found the long lost diary dating back to the 1960’s written by teenager Violet. This diary is filled with family secrets Kitty knew nothing about.

A lovely book you will enjoy reading and will not want to end.

Kitty’s Countryside Dream is available on amazon on February 25th 2016, but can be preordered now!
