The importance of trips to the theatre with kids 🎭

December 20, 2015

For the past three years we have taken our sons to the theatre every Christmas. It’s turned out to be a little family tradition if you like. We pick a show we haven’t seen yet, we plan, buy tickets and eagerly anticipate the day.

I was a bit hesitant at first, will they enjoy it, will they sit still, is it worth the cost? The other thing to keep in mind is kids can get sick, and if they are sick on the day all the plans fall through, including loosing all the money you spent on the tickets! But the risk is totally worth it in my opinion.

Last year we saw The Gruffalo and this year it was Stickman! Two of my boys favourite books adapted to the stage.

If you haven’t seen these wonderful books on the stage yet, they are very very different from the screen versions. For one they make the little ones use their imaginations to the full.

Both shows have only three actors and a range of props. But the way the props are used and the story portrayed is so absolutely amazing and mesmerising my boys were entranced in both shows. Seeing their little faces light up and the excitement of participating in some of the scenes.

It’s a magical experience not to be missed! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
