Christmas at Lilac Cottage by Holly Martin πŸ’œ a book review πŸ“š

December 7, 2015

I absolutely love what I do. Blogging has got to be the most fabulous job ever, I get to do what I love – writing, and meeting so many wonderful people in the process. Fellow bloggers, publishers, public relations, authors, the list goes on. But when you get thanks for what you write as a blogger, now that is a very special moment indeed, to be cherished forever.

I loved Holly Martin’s Christmasy book from the word go! Not only was the cottage on the cover exactly like my dream home, Holly starts her book off with a foreword dedicating this book to all bloggers! How lovely is that.

With the weather getting very cold and everyone getting very Christmasy indeed this is the perfect book to get you into the spirit of all things festive.

The Story –

Christmas at Lilac Cottage is a really cosy read you will want to snuggle under a big woolly blanket with and not reemerge until it is finished.

Set in the charming seaside town of White Cliff Bay, where Christmas is magical and love is in the air. The main character is Penny Meadows, she loves her home – a cosy cottage decorated with pretty twinkling fairy lights and stunning views over the town of White Cliff Bay. She also loves her job as an ice-carver, creating breathtaking sculptures. However Penny’s personal life is not as successful amd definitely needs something more.

Henry and daughter Daisy arrive at the cottage to rent the annex and Penny is more than willing to make them feel welcome as she would love the company. But while Daisy is friendly, Henry seems guarded.

As Penny gets to know Henry, she realises there is more to him than meets the eye. And the connection between them is too strong to ignore …

While the spirit of the season sprinkles its magic over the seaside town and preparations for the ice sculpting competition and Christmas eve ball are in full swing, can Penny melt the ice and allow love in her heart? And will this finally be the perfect Christmas she’s been dreaming of?

Verdict –

This book is like a big squishy pink marshmallow you just want to devour. And I did just that this past weekend, it was drizzling outside and terribly cold so I covered myself in my favourite blanket and read Holly’s gorgeous Christmasy book in one sitting.

I loved Penny from the very beginning, much like myself she loved having guests and did everything to make them feel welcome. Henry on the other hand was a little more difficult, a little cold. But it was lovely to see how their relationship developed. They both had issues to deal with but as we all know trust needs to be earned and time is the perfect healer.

I can’t give too much more away but this is a lovely Christmasy read full of friendship, love and trust which will warm you all over.

I can’t wait to read ‘Snowflakes on Silver Cove’ – the second in this series, also set in beautiful White Cliff Bay.
