Looking for a good cup of coffee in London? Try this Turkish delight!

March 15, 2015

Last night was date night for my husband and I, time away from the kids to recharge and just talk without being interrupted. Don’t get me wrong, I adore my kids, but this time for us is so important. Time is always limited so before heading out we make a plan. Where to go, what to do. Its exciting, as if we are ‘dating’ again.

Yesterday we decided to head to the city and visit one of our favourite haunts, ‘Kahve Dunyasi,’ a big, buzzing Turkish coffee house next door to Waterstones flagship store in Piccadilly Circus.

Kahve Dunyasi literally translates as ‘Coffee World.’ It is, in my opinion, the Turkish ‘Starbucks’ or ‘Cafe Nero’ with good coffee, but it also offers a great selection of freshly made sandwiches, cakes, snacks and the most scrumptious array of chocolates. Founded by mother of two, Alev Altinkilic, since opening its first shop in Istanbul in 2004, it has grown to having over 120 stores throught Turkey and its first international store in London’s Piccadilly Circus. Most recently it has started selling its delicious chocolate covered Turkish delights in Harrods.

If Turkish coffee is too strong for you, why not try a cappuccino or latte made using the same   delectable coffee beans. The chocolates are to die for – dates, candied chesnuts, strawberries, hazeltnuts, almonds, all covered in thick dark and milk chocolate. Macaroons in all colours and flavours which I think taste just as delicious as those at Laudree down the road, but for a fraction of the price.

Last night we found a table for two near the window. The place was buzzing, tourists and locals enjoying their delicacies, chatting and having fun. We had Turkish coffee, a few candied chestnuts covered in dark chocolate and a small scoop of mastic ice cream. Yummy!

If you are around Piccadilly Circus and want to have a delicious cup of coffee and a homemade snack try Kahve Dunyasi, I promise you, you will not be disappointed ❤️

Enjoy! xxxxxxx
