Juicers – which is best for you?

March 5, 2015

I have been asked which juicer I use and if I like it. I have the Philips Viva Collection juicer, I bought it on amazon for £49.99.

There are lots of juicers and smoothie makers on the market. I think it really depends what kind of juice you want it to make. If you want a drink that is thicker in consistency, more milkshake like and filling, a nutribullet would be more your thing, but if you want a more liquid drink go for a regular juicer.

Then there is the ‘centrifugal’ or ‘extractor’ (coldpress) juicer to chose from. The difference is the ‘centrifugal’ uses a fast spinning blade to cut the fruit and veggies, then seperates the juice from the pulp. Whilst the coldpress first crushes and then presses the fruit and veggies for the highest juice production. This is why the coldpress is said to be more effective with leafy vegetables like spinach and things like wheatgrass.

The Philips Viva is a ‘centrifugal’ juicer. Ive not tried wheatgrass in it, but it does a great job juicing spinach, kale and even parsley. Its super easy to clean and use.

I think they are all probably great! Anything fresh has got to be much better than the store bought sugar filled variety!

Happy juicing!
